Scientral Park, a new urban garden
2023 - Scientral Park, located between the buildings Sciences 2 and Sciences 3, is a new outdoor space designed for studying, socialising, relaxation, and well-being in a peaceful manner while respecting immediate neighbors. Opened in spring 2023, it aligns with the global parking strategy to improve commuting mobility and enhance the community, presented by the Council of State in 2020.
This new direction led to the termination of numerous parking subscriptions, resulting in reduced usage of the Sciences 2 parking facility. This presented an opportunity for UNIGE to rethink its outdoor space and transform it into a genuine urban garden, a relaxation area dedicated to the users of the science site. The name Scientral Park was chosen through a collaborative process in which the student community actively participated, generating around 180 name proposals.
